Recognized for extensive experience facilitating public-participation events associated
with large-scale civic and academic design projects, Jay Barnes of BGKA and Chad Floyd
of Centerbrook Architects and Planners were asked to speak at the 2008 AIA National
Convention in Boston. Entitled “Inventing with a Reluctant Community,” the presentation
described a wide variety of collaborative workshop techniques, citing the Palmer
Events Center as a particularly successful model of community involvement.
