Congress for the New Urbanism, an organization that promotes walkable, neighborhood-based
development as an alternative to sprawl, will be holding its 16th annual conference from April 3-6,
2008 in Austin, Texas. The Conference will feature a book about New Urbanism in Central Texas,
which includes articles by a variety of respected authorities on the topic. Originally written for Texas
Architect magazine, Carl Gromatzky's article The Domain:"Instant Community" will be part of the
book. The article explores the current trend toward mixed-use developments and the strategies
deployed by architects and developers to make projects like the Domain as successful as possible.
