For the second consecutive year, a design by Barnes Gromatzky Kosarek Architects has received
the Austin Business Journal Best Real Estate Award for Architectural Design. The 2007 award was
given for the Austin Convention Center Parking Garage and Austin Energy District Cooling Plant,
an entire city block located at Fifth and Red River in Downtown Austin. The City of Austin Convention
Center "didn't want something that people complained about. We wanted something that looked so
good it could win awards." In addition to the ABJ Award, this project has also received an AIA Design
Award, an Art in Public Places Award, and a Metal Architecture Design Award.
