As primary stewards of Austin's most prominent environmental feature, the Lower Colorado River
Authority knew that this high-profile project should be an exemplary model of sustainability.
Originally targeting LEED® Silver, the LCRA worked closely with BGK Architects to exceed
this goal, acheiving USGBC LEED® Gold Certification in Jaunuary 2009. The additional sustainable
features were also enough to receive a Four-Star Rating from the Austin Energy Green Building
Program. The River Operations Center features an interpretive park to educate the public about the
highland lakes, natural resource conservation and the environment.
