The Lower Colorado River Authority's Emergency Operations Center
to Achieve the USGBC's LEED® Silver Sustainability Certification

As primary stewards of Austin's most prominent environmental feature, the Lower Colorado River
Authority knew that this high-profile project should be an exemplary model of sustainability.
In addition to designing a sustainable building, Barnes Gromatzky Kosarek Architects worked with
the LCRA and the project team to develop an interpretive landscape design and water feature that
addresses the hydrology of the Highland Lakes. For this very public gesture to broaden awareness
of the environment, the project received an innovation point from the USGBC toward its goal of
achieving LEED® Silver Certification.
