Palmer Events Center Awarded 2-Star Rating for Achieving 50% to 75%
of Austin Energy Green Building Program's Sustainability Checklist

While sustainable design requirements are becoming more common for large-scale civic projects,
there were no such requirements for the Palmer Events Center. In keeping with the firm's philosophy
of socially responsible design practices, Barnes Gromatzky Kosarek Architects worked with the
project team to establish measurable sustainability goals. Through the use of green materials,
shading, rainwater harvesting, photovoltaics, intelligent lighting systems, and various other strategies,
the project achieved a 2-Star Rating from Austin Energy's Green Building Program. The City of Austin
proudly counts this certification among many other awards that the Palmer Events Center has won.
