Sustainable Design at Barnes Gromatzky Kosarek Architects

BGKA has always placed an emphasis on socially responsible design practices, and sustainable
design is an integral part of that philosophy. A member of the Austin Energy Green Building Program
since 2000, BGKA has three LEED® Accredited Professionals on staff. Before sustainability was
common, BGKA achieved certification on projects with no green building requirements at all. Both the
Palmer Events Center and Bay Hall Classroom Building achieved 2-Star Ratings from the City of
Austin, indicating 50% to 75% achievement of the Green Building Program checklist. BGKA has two
LEED® Silver projects in progress, LCRA's Emergency Operations Center and Texas State
University's Round Rock Nursing Building, the first of which is expected to be certified by early 2008.
