Our design for the Health Sciences Programs at Austin Community College District’s (ACC) Highland Campus was guided by a clear goal: to create high-performance learning environments that support ACC’s mission of workforce development while addressing Central Texas’s growing need for skilled healthcare professionals. Spaces were envisioned as immersive, hands-on settings that bridge education and clinical practice, empowering students to step confidently into real-world roles.

We designed a state-of-the-art 14,000-square-foot Health Sciences Simulation and Skills Lab for nursing and allied health training. Spaces include a Labor & Delivery Lab, Operating Room Simulation Suite, eight high-fidelity Simulation Rooms, and two 10-bed Skills Labs, equipped with advanced patient simulators and essential care equipment. Debriefing rooms foster reflective learning, creating a supportive environment to develop critical thinking and clinical skills.

A separate 11,000-square-foot Continuing Education Health Sciences Center supports specialized programs such as Dental Hygiene, Phlebotomy, Certified Nursing, and Medical Assisting. Each space—from the Digital X-Ray suite to the Ortho & Dental Lab—was crafted to replicate clinical conditions and provide access to industry-standard tools. Administrative areas and classrooms were seamlessly integrated to enhance efficiency and student experience. In close collaboration with ACC, we delivered a cohesive set of facilities that advance education, expand opportunity, and strengthen the region’s healthcare workforce.
